BIO

Born in Buenos Aires in 1968, in the neighborhood of La Boca, his first foray into cinema was as a sound trainee on the feature film Convivencia (1993). In 2004, he directed his first documentary, Concertándonos (2004), about a symphonic concert held in Patagonia. In 2013, he directed the feature-length documentary Venimos de muy lejos, focusing on the classic performance by the Grupo de Teatro Catalinas Sur about the experiences of those who were part of the significant wave of immigration that shaped Argentina’s social and cultural history. In 2014, he made another musical documentary: Roda Bom Ambiente, about samba music in Buenos Aires. In 2018, he directed Ikigai, la sonrisa de Gardel, about Mirta Regina Satz, a survivor of the AMIA bombing, who reinvented herself as a visual artist after the tragedy. In 2024, Piterbarg returned to the musical documentary genre with Cenizas y diamantes, Don Cornelio y La Zona.
