Malu Boruchowicz was born in Buenos Aires in 1994. She graduated from the University of Cinema (FUC, as per its Spanish acronym) in Cinematography Direction. She works as a director, cinematographer, and photographer. In 2017, she obtained a scholarship to study at La Fémis, a film school in Paris. She also complemented her studies by participating in Santiago Llach’s writing workshops. In parallel, she trained doing still photography for fashion, series, films, and musicians. She worked as a cinematographer in advertising short films (Chevrolet, Amnesty International), music videos (Julieta Venegas, Kevin Johansen), and fashion films (Levi’s, Jazmin Chebar). In 2019, she created La Casa de Al Lado, a film production company. In 2021, she directed the short film Bombones Surtidos, co-directed with Juan Manuel Pinzón. In 2022, she worked as a cinematographer in the documentary series Televisión contra las violencias and the short film La necesidad de un testigo, directed by Renzo Cozza and Mariana Sanguinetti. She also directed and wrote the short film Instrucciones para un saludo.
