BIO

Irene Kuten was born in Buenos Aires in 1971. She studied Animation and Film Making at the Instituto de Arte Cinematográfico de Avellaneda, and Social Communication at the University of Buenos Aires. Since 2013, she has co-coordinated the Human Rights and Audiovisual Production Workshop for Teenagers from the Padre Ricciardelli neighborhood, where she made with her students the fiction productions Bondi, El camino de las pibas, Complicado, and El traje. She has coordinated the Production area at the New Orson Project, Imagen & Comunicación production company for 15 years. She has produced independent works such as Fragmentos para dominar el silencio (Animated short film), which received the First Prize in the “Violaciones, la historia que nunca conté” competition, organized by the Las 12, Ojo Video, and the Centro de Encuentros Cultura y Mujer; Por la calle (Documentary short film, 2002); Buenos días Pachamama Kusiya, Kusiya (Documentary, 2008); and Zew (Documentary, 2022). She is a member of the production and research team of El diario del Caña, by Mónica Simoncini. She was the Assistant Director in Expreso Pistocchi, a documentary by Mónica Simoncini and Omar Neri. She is a producer and film columnist on the radio programs Demoliendo Tangos (AM 750) and Todo es Tango (FM La Patriada.)
