BIO

Estrella Herrera (Buenos Aires, 1984) holds a degree in arts from the University of Buenos Aires and is a visual and audiovisual artist. Her work revolves around photographic materiality, its different supports, meanings, and translations. Currently, she is working at the intersection of photography, performance, and video. In 2022, she completed the Film Program at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Her first short film, Orden y procedencia (o las formas posibles de meter el tiempo en una caja), about the moving process of the National Archives of Argentina, created in collaboration with Celeste Rojas Mugica, won the award for Best Argentine Short Film at the SYNCRO Film Fest 2023. Her second short film, Sexto continente, selected for the Mar del Plata Film Festival in 2023, is part of a project that goes beyond the screen and originated from a photographic series, SIMA. This performative installation work is part of this universe and was realized in collaboration with Loli Mosquera, Diego Spivacow, and Celeste Rojas.
