Yael Szmulewicz was born in Buenos Aires in 1975. She is an audiovisual director graduated from the University of Buenos Aires. Since 2005 she has worked as assistant director and script supervisor in Argentina, and director of her own projects. In 2002, she directed her first documentary, La otra orilla, as part of the Perfiles series. She has also directed countless music videos, mostly in the Tango genre. In 2018, she premiered her documentary Amar amando. El sonido de antes is her second documentary.
