BIO

Martin Benchimol (1985) is an Argentine film director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He has directed two feature-length documentaries: El espanto (The Dread, 2017), premiered at IDFA where it was awarded with the IDFA AWARD for Best Film; and La gente del río (The River People, 2012) premiered at DOK Leipzig. In 2022, he premiered the short film Un corazón más contundente (A More Forceful Heart) in the IDFA short film competition, produced by Sandbox Films (U.S.A.) and PFilm (U.K.). Martin is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where he teaches film classes in the Postgraduate Program in Documentary Filmmaking. Since 2021, he has been teaching at Mexico’s Center for Cinematographic Training (CCC, as per its Spanish acronym), as responsible for the Documentary Creation Clinic. El castillo (The Castle) is his first solo feature film.
