Mariela Pietragalla was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She holds a degree in Music Therapy, and she is an Audiovisual Director and Sound Designer. She also made studies in orchestral conduction and musical instruments from India and Japan. She is Professor of Sound Design and Aesthetics; Audiovisual Narrative and Psychology, and Music and Cinema in Argentina and Latin America. She directed the documentary Reflejos (2012), about the work of Gustavo Fontán. She was second camera for a video Installation of the work of Eugenio Cuttica for Museo del Mar (2017). In 2022, she directed The Other Memory of the World, a documentary poetical film in black and white. She coordinated the Film Schools Competition of the FLAVIA Video Art Festival. She is a member of the Cineteca Vida Foundation. In 2019 she published The Immanent Forest.
