María Laura Vasquez

BIO

She was born in La Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, in 1976. She studied Combined Arts at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and graduated as a film director from Cuba’s Internatinoal School of Film and Television. She has made over 20 cultural and socio-political documentaries in Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Cuba; and has produced television programs within the same documentary theme. Between the years 2000 and 2011, she resided in Venezuela, where she worked for La Villa del Cine, directing feature documentaries; and for different television channels, producing and directing documentary series. She also worked alongside Oliver Stone in the research and compilation of archival material for the film Al sur de la frontera and for the film Mi amigo Hugo. Since mid-2011, she has resided in Buenos Aires. She works in the direction, scriptwriting, production, and camera of several documentary series. Among her most important documentaries are Cuando la brújula marco el sur, Proyecto Independencia, Los 120, La brigada del café, and La rebelión de las flores. Currently, she is in the editing process of another feature documentary: En busca de Legeryn.
