María Alché

BIO

She studied Film Direction at the National School of Filmmaking (ENERC, as per its Spanish acronym), where she also teaches Acting Direction. She is also an actress. She wrote and directed the feature film Familia sumergida (2018), which won the Horizontes Latinos Award at the San Sebastián Film Festival, the Ingmar Bergman Award for Best First Film at the Göteborg Film Festival, the award for Best Screenplay at the Lima Film Festival, and Best Director at FICUNAM, among others. She also wrote and directed the short films Noelia, Gulliver, Signs of a Struggle, Invierno 2035, and the photography series Fallas. With her feature film project Te amo y hoy todo es hermoso, she participated in 2023’s Ikusmira Berriak Residency. She is currently co-writing the documentary Chocobar with Lucrecia Martel.
