BIO

Director, producer, screenwriter, and star of the first-person documentary Femicidio. Un caso, múltiples luchas (2019) about her mother’s femicide, her grieving process, and her fight. This film was her thesis for the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires, where she graduated in 2018. With support from the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA,as per its Spanish acronym), the feature film premiered in March 2019 at the Gaumont Movie Theater in Buenos Aires on International Women’s Day and was declared of interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires in August 2021. In 2020, Ávila was recognized by Argentores for the documentary’s script. She is currently distributing the documentary Mover (lo que no se ve), starring alongside dancers Majo Nóbile and Carolina Villa, set to premiere in 2024 at the Gaumont Movie Theater The feature film, directed and written by Avila, continues her exploration of the body, politics, and mental health, and received INCAA support for post-production. Avila is a co-tutor of audiovisual projects at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires, alongside her former tutor, Eduardo Cartoccio.
