She is a writer, screenwriter, and film director. Her first film, XXY, received the Grand Prix of the Critics’ Week at Cannes (2007), a Goya, and an Ariel for Best Foreign Film. Her second film, El niño pez, opened the Panorama section at the Berlin Film Festival (2009), won awards for Best Film in Spain and Tokyo, and was part of the official selection at Tribeca and Havana. Her third film, Wakolda, was in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival and San Sebastian Film Festival (2013), and won over 20 international awards. Her feature film Dive, filmed in Mexico in 2021 and starring Karla Souza, was acquired by Amazon for worldwide distribution. Los Impactados is her fifth feature film. Lucía is also the creator and showrunner of all seasons of La jauría and Señorita 89, produced by Fábula and Fremantle. Her books have been translated into more than fifteen languages.
