BIO

Charo Mato is an Argentine filmmaker graduated from the Image and Sound Design career at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires. She was a fellow of the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program, Talents BA, and Respect Ability. She was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 38th International Documentary Association Awards for her debut documentary 8 Cuentos sobre mi hipoacusia, a film co-produced with the Uruguayan company Monarca Films. She has also participated in various labs such as the Sundance Producers Summit & Lab, Sanfic Net, the Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and was a winner at the 10th Bolivia Lab. The film premiered in Argentina at the 9th edition of the Buenos Aires International Documentary Film Festival. It was also shown at the 41st Vancouver International Film Festival, the 18th Santiago International Film Festival; and won Best Film at the 9th International Film Festival on Work; and received awards for Best Film, Best Direction, and Best Editing at the 19th Tandil Cine, and for Best Documentary Film at the 8th Houston Latino Film Festival.
