BIO

Anna Tyurina was born on October 5th, 1979 in Moscow. She graduated from Moscow Region State University as a linguist-interpreter in English and French. In 2006, she graduated from VGIK, the Russian State University of Cinematography (Screenwriting Faculty, directed by Valentin Chernykh, screenwriter of Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears the Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980). Among her works as a screenwriter, notable ones include the TV films Arabian Dance (2007), directed by Evgeny Semenov; The Stranger (2007), a thriller by director Alexander Kott; the feature film The Domino Effect (2009) by Sergey Artimovich; Return Ticket (2012), a drama directed by Alexander Kananovich; Petrovitch (2010), and the miniseries In Chaír Park (2022), a historical drama about the fascist occupation produced by Amedia. In 2011, she directed a documentary called Ritual Objects, which toured prestigious festivals in Russia. She has always wanted to direct fiction films since she was young. Nevada is her first feature film as a director. She currently lives in Buenos Aires, where she works as a screenwriter and director.
