Andrew Sala was born in the United States, although he has lived his entire life in Argentina. He graduated as a Magna Cum Laude Economist from the University of Buenos Aires, and later studied film at the University of Cinema, where he now teaches. His short film Asesinato en Junín (2012) won the Best Fiction Award at the Tampere Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Poitiers Film Festival. His first feature film Pantanal (2014) was selected for festivals such as Warsaw IFF, Stockholm IFF, and Mar del Plata IFF, among others. He was a fellow of the Fundación Carolina and the TIFF Filmmaker Lab.
