Sebastián Díaz was born on October 31, 1973, in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1992 he began studying at the Avellaneda Cinematographic Art Institute (IDAC as per its acronym in Spanish). In 2001, together with Gabriel Arregui, he directed the fictional feature film Mataperros (INCAA, 2001), which premiered in 2002 at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. As a researcher of national history, he has directed the documentary films La muralla criolla (2017), which narrates the unusual construction of “Alsina´s trench” and 4 Lonkos (2019), which denounces the indigenous genocide during the “Conquest of the Desert’s Campaigns. Both films won awards at major festivals and were released in theaters and on television. La Plata contada (INCAA, 2020) is his latest documentary feature film.
