Álvaro Urtizberea directed Hortensia (2015), alongside Diego Lublinsky, a feature film that competed in the official competition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Picture and Best Screenplay at the Raindance Film Festival (London, United Kingdom), where it won the award for Best Leading Actress (Camila Romagnolo). It also participated in the MOOV IFF (Belgium), Exground IFF (Germany), Hamburg IFF (Germany), Canberra IFF (Australia), among others. Hortensia received praise from both local and international press. In 2023, Urtizberea completed his second feature film, Radio Oriente, a non-conventional comedy with naive, absurd, and surrealistic elements, addressing the abuse of power in human relationships. It revolves around a police incident in a small town where a submissive radio station manager rebels, preventing its sale to a shady Eastern group aiming to strike a BIG deal. |
