BIO

Carmela Sandberg is an Uruguayan director, actress and journalist, based in Buenos Aires since 2005. She studied filmmaking at La Clac, and was Teaching Assistant in Acting Direction I and II, under Eduardo Ruderman, at the University of the Arts (UNA as per its Spanish acronym). She was in charge of actresses’ direction for the Argentine-Uruguayan co-production Hora del té, by Rossana Bossio. As an actress, she participated in the film El cazador, by Marco Berger; El amor se inventó en las películas, by Camila Adaro and Un lugar común, by Javier Cabezudo. She wrote, directed and produced her debut short filme, The Prospect, which premiered at the 23rd BAFICI’s International Competition, and obtained two special mentions from RECAM and SIGNIS. It also won the Audience Award at the Polo Sur Festival in Chile.
