Alejandro Hartmann was born in Buenos Aires in 1973. He graduated from the National Filmmaking and Cinematographic Experimentation School (ENERC, as per its Spanish acronym), were he directed his first short film Amor color reptil. He worked as Assistant Director to Martin Rejtman in the feature film Silvia Prieto. Since 1994 he has directed music videos (among them the winners of the MTV Award Abarajame and Jaguar House), fiction series (Hospital público, Todos contra Juan II), documentary series (Titulares, Propaganda, Alma naranja and Carmel: ¿Quién mató a María Marta?, which premiered on Netflix); and both fiction and documentary feature films such as Clon (2001), AU3 (2011), Reset (2020), El fotógrafo y el cartero: El crimen de Cabezas (2022) and El Nacional (2022). He is also a Professor at the National University of Buenos Aires, the National University of Tres de Febrero, and the ENERC.
