Alaina is overwhelmed by being a police officer in the Pine Ridge Reservation and decides not to respond to her radio anymore. Her niece Sadie waits for her during a long night, to no avail. Saddened, Sadie decides to embark on a journey with the help of her grandfather. She travels through time and space to South America, leaving behind the old black and white westerns that don't represent her at all. Everything will seem different to her. When she senses the dreams of other people who inhabit the jungle, her conclusions will be uncertain... Birds don't speak to humans, but if only we could understand them, they would surely have some truths to communicate to us.
