Mein Buch is the story of a family throughout the 20th century. Mostly composed of family archive footage, it is accompanied by an imaginary dialogue between two characters: one of them leaves Switzerland in 1921 to settle in South America. Through this off-screen conversation, a plot is woven that finally reveals who the characters are, and the particular story that binds them together: leaving the homeland, a personal diary, travels to the East, books, a theater that catches fire, self-exile.
