A generation. A life. A country. "Las Ausencias" traverses through Argentine history from 1948 to 1990. Filmed in Super 8mm, it draws upon period newsreels, personal photographs, comic strip-style drawings, snippets from various films, interviews, and more. Based on the filmmaker's short story "La noche anterior," it reflects the impact of political events and the discovery of cinema on his everyday life. With an experimental nature, it proposes a narrative detached from conventions, aligning closely with the learning that took place over 50 years dedicated to cinema in its various facets: as a teacher, film club organizer, filmmaker, critic, and programmer.
