Immersed in a fate she doesn't choose, Leni accompanies her father, Reverend Pearson, on his evangelical mission. Their car breaks down, forcing them to stop at Gringo's repair shop, a man diametrically opposed to faith, who lives with Tapioca, a teenager under his care. The hours stretch on, overshadowed by an impending storm, and the Reverend becomes obsessed with saving Tapioca's soul.
