Franca González is a documentary filmmaker and producer. She lives in Buenos Aires. Franca received the DAC (Directores Argentinos Cinematográficos) Lifetime Achievement Award (2023) and the Konex Award in Documentary Film (2021). She shares the Konex Award with Andrés Di Tella, Néstor Frenkel, Daniel Rosenfeld, and Sergio Wolf, who are recognized as the five most outstanding Argentine documentary filmmakers of the last decade. She studied Arts at UBA and continued her education in auteur documentary filmmaking. Her films have been recognized by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (Argentina), IBERMEDIA, INCAA, UNESCO, Japan Foundation, Instituto Cervantes of New York, Argentores, among others. They have competed in international festivals such as BAFICI, DocLisboa, Málaga, Toulouse, Vancouver, Catalunya, Havana, Montréal, Leipzig, among others. She was a grantee of the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, CALQ (Québec), and the Canadian Studies Program. She has been the director of photography and camera operator for her own films and for directors María Victoria Menis (Argentina) and Carole Laganière (Canada). After participating in the BAFICI and La Mujer y el Cine festivals, her 7th feature film, VINCI/Cuerpo a Cuerpo, will be released in theaters in May.
