Carlos Montaña is a worker at the sugar mill in the Argentine province of Tucumán in 1976. One day, while he is doing his job, the military dictatorship’s repressive forces seize the sugar mill where he works. Carlos senses the danger and makes a run for his life. He dashes through town and takes cover in the sugarcane fields. The military sends out dogs to track him down. Carlos braces himself for the worst and contemplates taking out the hound before it can give him away. But then something miraculous happens: the dog runs right past him without making a sound. With his life spared, Carlos leaves the fields behind and heads for the mountains in search of safety and a new identity.
