In a metropolis covered by a large dome, the homeless are turned into robots to exploit the last resources of a barren land turned into a vast desert. The few who manage to escape take refuge in small cities outside the dome. In one of these cities, the inhabitants come across 4232, a "robotized" being who still retains its consciousness, and see it as the possibility to regain their family and friends.
